Sirius

The weather decided to cooperate on one day this weekend.  I am glad to say it was the day of an incredible BBQ.  Whilst the food was in prep, I was enjoying a glass of Sirius and playing with the light with my glass of wine as a prop.

Salon Silhouette

Whilst at the salon this morning, I thought this might turn out to be an interesting composition.  What I didn't realize at the time was that the sleeve of my smock was partially over the lens of my iPhone.  I would have preferred not to have captured the sleeve, but it did lend itself to be an interesting artificial frame for this shot.

I have a bouquet of Stargazer Lily's on our kitchen bench.  I decided to experiment with my LX5. Lily 1 is my favorite from the set below.

Lily 2 was taken dutch.  However, the angle of flowers gives the viewer of sense of being off-balance.

Heat

I have an idea for the theme Heat that I want to explore.  I ran out of time based on the deadline for the BBC.  Deadline missed - I am still going to set up and shoot the idea in the near future.  Check back in the next fortnight if you are interested. In the meantime, I have posted a couple of images to reflect my thoughts on heat.

My apologies for the photo silence. Work has become all consuming (again!) not allowing for much in the way of personal projects. I have been working with my cameras, but have yet to update my posts.

Look! Up in the sky....

The clouds this afternoon looked like someone had painted a sky and then positioned their canvas in place of the actual sky.  There isn't any post work on either shot.

A new tact

I am not feeling connected with my shots. The past couple of weeks I have felt rushed. I shot anything to get a post up for the day. That exercise got me back into thinking about shooting everyday, however I wasn't planning or composing the shot.  It was a quick snap to meet my goal of posting everyday in April.

I took a few days off to get to know my new camera and concentrated on composition & lighting.  Moving forward this month, I want to try a new tact and follow a weekly theme. This week's theme on the BBC website is Heat. For the next seven days (May 16 - 22), I will be out on assignment.

Addition to the Quiver

I received my new camera today! It is the Panasonic Lumix LX5. My new point-and-shoot that can go with me everywhere. My 40D was just a bit to much to be lugging around work everyday.  Now I can always have a camera with me. I am very excited about giving the Leica lens a run tomorrow.

Can't wait, can't wait!!!
