I love cafés. They enable me to slow down and relax. I can read a book, watch people, get lost in my thoughts all over a cuppa. The mocha pictured above was quite tasty.

Sitting in the doctor's office waiting to get my hand checked, I was perusing a Wine magazine. The first line in the copy read:

'Grande Absente, Absente Originale is now made legally...'

So are they saying this is *real* absente to be sold in the states?

As I thumbed through this magazine, it had as many ads for spirits as it did for wine. I had to admit I forgot I was looking at a magazine about wine.

I actually took this picture three weeks ago during a bookbinding workshop. The contrast of the cast iron wheel against the red wall appealed to me. I love all the old book presses.  This one in particular puts a 'bite' in the shoulder of your book. 

My book is the one there on the left side.

I opened my front door and found our neighbors cat looking up at me. She sauntered into the the house without so much as a by-your-leave.  I happened to have my 40D in my hand.

Advancing my bookbinding skills is an enjoyable exercise. However, as with all hobbies, I have reached that stage where it is becoming quite expensive if I want to construct more sturdy & advanced bindings. The sewing frame pictured is just one of several investments I want to make over the next couple of years. The cords add to the strength of a binding and can also act as a decorative element depending on the materials chosen.

This shot does not do the colors any justice.  The colors are Scarlet, Ochre, Black & Marine Blue. Now the fun begins as I start working on my next project.

iPhone April

When I started shooting for April it was not my intent to shoot with my iPhone on a regular basis.  I wanted to use various cameras over the course of the month.  However, the first photo of April was taken with my 40D, all the remaining photos to date have been taken with my iPhone.

I am finding it an interesting study to see what my battered iPhone 3G can capture in various situations. I will continue using my iPhone for the remainder of the month.
